THE LAST OF THE SUMMER SUN
I didn’t know it on the day but Natalie and Adam’s Wedding at the end of October was the last day of any kind of warmth. From first light there were clear blue skies and they lasted the whole day which was perfect because it meant that everyone could get stuck into the outdoor games on the lawn after the ceremony…
October is a great time of year to get married, so good in fact I did it myself and Cockliffe Country House is a seriously awesome place to do it! Tucked away from civilisation sits this beautiful old house / hotel with lovely views, beautiful garden and very nicely furnished interior. There’s the main house which acts as the hotel with a number of rooms for guests. Then at the rear sits the bar which leads through to the main event space. This is where Nat & Adam held their ceremony, in this stunning room with a vaulted ceiling and structural beams covered in fairy lights.
The morning was spent getting a bit rowdy in the bridal suite with hair and makeup, there wasn’t the usual tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony which made things very easy. The lads enjoyed a couple of late morning beers in the sun on the terrace before piling into someone’s room (I couldn’t work out who’s) to get dressed, fill up the hip flasks and dish out some gifts to each other.
The ceremony was amazing, check out their daughter’s face as she walks down the aisle and sees Adam at the front. Immediately afterwards everyone moved straight back outside into the sunshine for a shed load of confetti and some afternoon games on the lawn.
They held a slightly more informal hog roast dinner, at which anyone could sit anywhere. Perfect for mingling and moving about between groups of friends. After three expertly delivered speeches we had an awesome first dance more doughnuts (from Dough Notts), cake and a dance floor filled party. Incredible day! Congratulations Nat & Adam!
