Ashley and Andrew’s SUMMER VIBES AT HODSOCK
Ashley's morning began at their family home in Ravenshead with her parents and bridesmaids. When I arrived they were all very quiet, a few nerves perhaps? As it turns out, it didn't last long, everyone getting excited as they got dressed (Ashley's mum made the bridesmaids dresses.) It was a very warm English summer's day, fields all yellow, hay baled up all over the countryside. We took a short ride over to Kirkby in Ashfield in an old Beauford for the ceremony at St.Wilfrids Church. Then after the confetti we made our way over to Hodsock Priory which is a good 45 minutes in a modern car. Those seatbelt-less Beaufords took closer to 70!
Hodsock Priory, famous for its snowdrops in early spring is a classic English country house. An ancient property with masses of history ranging from the bronze age to present day and everything, including Henry VIII in between. The gardens are spectacular and there is a beautiful gatehouse at the entrance to the house. It's difficult to imagine a better time of year to enjoy this property, everyone outside on the lawn, enjoying pimms, prosecco and croquet, amazing weather and a late sunset.
Andrew only just managed to hold his composure throughout his speech, some emotional words of love for his wife almost stumbled him, and why wouldn't they? Ashley is an incredible woman. Their first dance was performed by Chloe and Richard from Soul to Soul Acoustic. An awesome acoustic duo with amazing vocals. Of course we went out to enjoy the grounds for some epic artistic portraits around sunset. Let me know what you think!
